Abdullah Musa

05-070221 Abdullah Musa

Haji Abdullah Musa was born in Singapore on 24 February 1923. He was the first son of Haji Musa Yusoff and Khatijah Tamby Chik. He has an elder sister Halimah (deceased) and younger sisters ‘Tik'Safiah (deceased) and Habsah whom I could not recall having met her.

Haji Abdullah marries Ainon Mohd Taib during the Japanese occupation when she was barely 13 years of age and he at 19. From the stories he told, they had a tough time getting together as his family would like him to marry one of his relatives but due to his love for Ainon he endures it all.

Time was hard at that time with the Japanese taking advantage of young girls but due to Ainon grandmother (step) the Japanese somehow leave them alone as she seems to be from the Royal Town in Japan, possibly Kyoto. They moved to Malacca with his elder sister’s family to look for job there. His uncle Ibrahim Tamby Chik managed to care for them for a while but after his first son Mohamad was born on 29 October 1944 and his sister gave birth to another daughter Fatimah Hassan.

About six months after his son was born the situation got worst and they all pack up their things and got home to Singapore and it is believed that they stayed at Jalan Ismail in Kampong Melayu, Singapore. Here his second child Kamaliah was born on 27 December 1946. Following the birth of Kamaliah he has another 11 children with Ainon.
